Datsyuk’s sick shootout goal against Chicago
Even though I’m sure this game didn’t get any ratings at all (it aired the same time as the Cowboys – Vikings NFC playoff game), but during the shootout, Pavel Datsyuk scored on a ridiculous move.
Datsyuk is pretty much automatic in the shootout – his puckhandling skills are simply phenomenal. I was actually watching this instead of the Dallas-Minnesota NFC game (The Vikings had already run away with it at that point anyway), and I was totally blown away.
Update: As some of my commenters mentioned, Datsyuk’s move was reminiscent of Linus Ormark’s goal a little while back. Check that out.

I hate the Red Wings. Like, really hate them. If Al Qaeda and the Red Wings were playing in a meaningless pre-season game I would have a VERY hard time deciding who to root for (Ok, I wouldn’t really but my patriotism makes me pretend I would).
I realized part of the reason why is because even when the Hawks are beating them like the chump, washed up has-beens that they are, they are STILL irritating me with goals like the 2 in the shoot out. There was this sick flip move noted above followed by a ridiculous spin-o-rama thing that I would have said “BS!!!” had I seen it in a video game.
Man, do I really hate the %$*&ing Wings…

@gh0st, who are you hating the red wings? do you hate them because of the great franchise we have had in the past 11 years? do you hate the skill that comes from no name players? do you hate the class and respect for other teams? do you hate that we one of the few franchises that has one 4 cups in 11 year , get your shit straight

@redwings,
You were making good points until you got to “the class and respect for other teams” at which point you lost all credibility and have reduced your whole argument to a huge LOL.
I have been around for awhile. I remember the Wings vs. Avalanche playoffs series in the 90s and there was nothing even somewhat resembling “class” displayed by the Wings. In fact, it was those games in large part that made me go from just hating them to truly loathing them as an entire organization.
And, the other major factoring reason I hate the Wings is because they have some of the worst fans in sporting history. As displayed above. You didn’t even read my freaking comment, which was some light hearted tongue in cheek cheap jabs while I gave them their props. But that’s ok, you spout off in a loud soapbox tirade with very little actual insight that goes beyond what you looked up on Wiki before posting. Its the Wings-fan’s way.

He “lifted” that from Linus Omark, a Swedish prospect that Edmonton owns the right to (see link):

I think they gave Datsyuk two minutes for intent to embarrass on that one. Awesome.

That reminds me of this soccer goal

That is a pretty sweet goal but it is reminiscent of a goal scored by Linus Omark in a shootout in March of last year.
It can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwI8o1d0cTE
Not taking anything away from the Datsyuk goal, cause it was scored on an NHL goalie, but Omarks went off the cross bar and in!

Nothing will ever top the Marek Malik goal in like the 16th round of the shootout. 6 foot 8 defenseman goes through the legs and roofs it.
