More Olympic Masks Leaked
As we draw closer to the Vancouver Olympic Games, another set of photos leaked – goaltender masks from a couple different countries were released online, and they’re pretty awesome.
Tomas Vokoun — Czech Republic
Tim Thomas — United States
Jonathan Quick — United States
Goalie masks are one of my favorite aspects of the Winter Games; it’s a unique and creative art form that athletes use to express their patriotism for their own country. Personally, I really dig Vokoun’s mask the most, the U.S designs kind of look the same to me. I’m really interested in seeing what Team Canada’s masks will look like for Vancouver – extensive googling hasn’t turned up anything yet, but I’ll post them here once they’re available. I’m sure Brodeur, Luongo and Fleury are pulling out all the stops for their homeland crowd in British Columbia.

I like Vokoun’s brain bucket… and Thomas’s is pretty cool too. How about some Canadian Goalie masks?

Goalies and their special helmets suck…
Hockey would be so much more intense and fast paced without a fat camping noob blocking every single shot. They should be just be removed from the game and sent to fat camp, then more long distance shots would take place, scores would go up, and the game would be crazy fun.
Seriously, goalies are boring as hell, no matter how much krap other people paint onto their helmets. If the goalies were painting the helmets themselves, then that might be cool, but … no, they mail order their yuppie art and try to pass themselves off as awesome.
Goalies are LAME.

What i am basically trying to say is I’m a goalie and being a goalie is fun and shooting hard rubber discs at us is fun too. Part of the game is about the challenge of getting the puck past the goalie so without us the game would be “boring as hell”. And sure, maybe mask art isnt a big part of the game but if a goalie wants to a goalie can. Welcome to a free country.

Not exactly “leaked” – they were given to me by the artists – and not until the goalies had seen them first.
One interesting bit is the very patriotic look for Thomas and Quick was painted by a Canadian – Steve NAsh of eyecandyair.com.
