Steven Stamkos Crazy Spinorama Goal

Tampa’s Steven Stamkos takes a page out of Edmonton’s Linus Omark style book to put a fancy spin on his goal against Montreal.
Stamkos had two goals and two assists as the Lightning rolled over the Canadians 4-1. The highlight occurred when Stamkos made it 3-1 at 1:46 of the third when he flipped this backhander over goalie Carey Price after a fancy spin move during a penalty shot. Stamkos had noted he went with the spin move because of his anemic career shootout record of four goals in 17 tries.
Nailed It! Alexander Ovechkin’s Russian Shooting Accuracy Challenge
The Washington Capitals are gearing up for their Winter Classic game this weekend and hopefully the weather will hold out. This week the team spent some times outdoors to get used to the weather and atmosphere. Fans showed up in the 47 degree weather at the Chevy Chase club’s outdoor rink in Maryland. Check out the full gallery here.

When Washington capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin stopped by the ESPN campus recently, they decided to test his shooting accuracy. So, naturally, they asked him to fire hockey pucks at Russian nesting dolls filled with Russian dressing. The results, as you might expect are equal parts messy and amazing. Enjoy.
Pucker Up! Sidney Crosby Lip Balm Is Now On Sale

Sidney Crosby extended his red-hot scoring streak to 25 games with a power-play goal against Atlanta on Tuesday night. Crosby leads the league in goals and assists and with that great power comes great endorsements. Take for example the new Sidney Crosby Lip Balm. For $4 you can enjoy the sweet taste of a sweaty Crosby on your lips.
OK, maybe not. I’m not sure what the flavor of the balm is but hopefully it doesn’t induce that peach-fuzz mustache Crosby has going on.
Anze Kopitar’s Awesome Flip Pass to Dustin Brown

This video looks innocent enough until you watch the replay and see that the Kings Anze Kopitar’s pass to Dustin Brown is perfect. You can see why Anze leads the Kings in assists with this sweet pass. Kopitar flips the puck over the heads of Brown and the Sharks Danny Heatley to rest directly in front of Brown with enough room to make a move and the goal.
Senators Spezza Out Six Weeks with Shoulder Injury

Time to adjust your Fantasy Roster. Bad news slipped out of Ottawa today as news that Senators center Jason Spezza, who missed 20+ games last season with an MCL injury, could be out for up to six weeks with a shoulder injury.
Spezza suffered a right shoulder injury Sunday against the Pittsburgh Penguins when the Pens Kris Letang checked Spezza into the boards. Even though Letang received a 2-minute boarding penalty, Spezza was escorted off the ice directly to the dressing room. Here’s a video of the hit. You can see Spezza landing awkwardly on his right shoulder just before crashing into the boards.
How They Make The Ice For The Winter Classic

The Winter Classic is just days away. Hopefully the weather will hold out and not be 50 degrees and raining. If you have tickets to the event please be sure to check with the ticket gate for possible refunds or reschedules if the weather turns into a jerk.
It’s not the temperature but the rain that stands a chance to ruin the event. That’s because the Winter Classic is so big to the NHL that they invested in their own ice making truck. A converted semi trailer is now home to the portable ice rink maker for the Winter Classic. Check out Ice Guru Dan Craig as he talks about the Winter Classic truck.
Mark Letestu Is Patient. Goal Rewarded

This game clip is from just before Christmas but everyone here at the Puck Doctors has been hitting the nog pretty heavy so we’re just now getting back into the grind. Hopefully your holidays were great and I’m jealous of all the people who got tickets to the Winter Classic this year. I wish I could be there.
One clip I wanted to show you is a great display of patience on the ice. Pittsburgh Penguins Mark Letestu demonstrates some great patience here to take the pass from Tyler Kennedy and rushes toward Panthers goalie Tomas Vokoun. But instead of pulling the trigger on a shot, Letestu holds on and drifts to his right.
Letestu catches Vokoun losing his position with just enough room to slip the puck into the goal.
A Real Hockey Fight Involves The Goalies

Hockey fights are great but there’s no denying that a hockey fight is so much better when the goalies get involved. The Florida Everblades and their ECHL rivals, the Gwinnett Gladiators, got into an all-out melee during the December 22nd game.
A ton of penalty minutes were handed out but none were more deserved than the fantastic goalie fight between Bobby Goepfert (#41) and Billy Sauer (#36).

Leggo My Eggo! More Waffle Fun with the Maple Leafs

The great Toronto Maple Leaf Waffle Wars of 2010 continue. The battle front in Toronto is a vicious place to be right now. Fans, armed with an artillery of Eggo Waffles, are being captured by security as they try to lob waffles onto the ice.
During Toronto’s game at home on Monday night against the Thrashers, the Waffle Man struck again. This time he threw the waffles on the ice during the play. No players were injured but the Waffle Man was taken away by security. Check out the video.
The police took in 31-year-old Joseph Robb, the alleged Eggo Bomber. Robb has been charged with mischief (interference with property) and has been banned from the Air Canada Centre for all events as well as other Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment events at BMO Field and the Ricoh Coliseum.
CTV reports that people will now be check for waffles when entering the arena. Seriously. Can you imagine those TSA airport searches we have down here in the States in Canada looking for Eggo Bombers instead of suicide bombers? This is truly a crazy world we live in.
Afterward, video of Robb from his earlier days emerged. We have an exclusive clip of Robb in his vigilante days below.
