Dammit Janet! Wayne Gretzky’s Son Signs With Cubs
Wayne Gretzky is one happy father right now. His son, Trevor, just got drafted this week to play a pro sport.
Here’s the bad news and you’ll want to be sitting down for this. Trevor….is a baseball player.
It’s not bad enough that the son of the best hockey player in the world, ever, has decided to join a different sport but then to have the Chicago Cubs draft Trevor is just insult to injury.
The Cubs are perennial losers and Trevor could at least not sign and go with a team that had a chance of winning the World Series in the next 100 years.
I know, I know. What went wrong?
Like most of Canada in all things Gretzky I blame Janet Jones. After all, she played a pitcher in “A League of Their Own” who pitched at Wrigley Field. Coincidence? I think not.
“I told my son we’ve come full circle because in the mid-80s I was probably public enemy No. 1 in Chicago and his mother did the movie at Wrigley in (1992),” hockey legend Wayne Gretzky said in a phone interview. “And don’t forget, maybe the greatest Canadian baseball player ever, Ferguson Jenkins, played for the Cubs.”
Growing up in Sunny California can suck the hockey out of you and make you soft. Trevor apparently fell in love with the sport of baseball after Wayne introduced him to Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. Here’s the reaction of Trevor Gretzky as he is drafted by the Chicago Cubs
