It is unusual that all 32 teams are tied for first place in the NHL standings past the first of January. However, with the lockout just ending, we have now entered the official start of the preseason. With that in mind, here is a look at how all 32 teams stack up before the start of the 2013 NHL season.

5		Predators	0-0	With the absence of a true trade deadline, they won’t be able to trade a first round pick for an average player.
6		Blues	0-0	The Blues are a team that is on the rise. They should do good things again this season.
7		Penguins	0-0	Sidney Crosby and company will have a lot of pressure on them to win after being bounced in the first round last year.
8		Flyers	0-0	Danny Briere will miss the start of the regular season. That could be huge in a short season.
9		Coyotes	0-0	Will they still be in Phoenix next year? A new buyer doesn’t seem like a sure thing anymore.
10		Red Wings	0-0	It was weird seeing them gone so early from the playoffs last season. A rebound year is in order.
11		Devils	0-0	Martin Brodeour never seems to age. The last time the season was 48 games long, he won the Stanley Cup.
12		Blackhawks	0-0	Kane and Toews are going to be the reason that the team does well or does poorly this season.
13		Sharks	0-0	With lowered expectations, is this the year that they finally make it to the Stanley Cup finals?
14		Panthers	0-0	Let’s hope they win some games in regulation this year and make it to the playoffs legitimately.
15		Senators	0-0	Can they make it back to the playoffs for the second year in a row?
16		Capitals	0-0	Alex Ovechkin is overrated. Someone had to say what almost everyone else is thinking.
17		Sabres	0-0	Fans want to see the Stafford-Foligno-Ellis line dominate like they did at the end of last season.
18		Flames	0-0	The Flames surprised by competing for a playoff spot last year. Is this the final year for Jarome Iginla as a Flame?
19		Stars	0-0	Is Jamie Benn going to sign a new deal? Will Derek Roy score more than 20 points this year?
20		Avalanche	0-0	A young team that should compete for a playoff spot this season.
21		Jets	0-0	They’re like the Seattle Seahawks of hockey. It’s time to win some road games, guys.
22		Lightning	0-0	The coach is on the hot seat after failing to make the playoffs last season.
23		Hurricanes	0-0	The owner is sorry for the lockout. Did anyone in Carolina notice?
24		Wild	0-0	Zach Parise and Ryan Suter cost the Wild a fortune. Hopefully the Wild don’t slide like they did last year.
25		Maple Leafs	0-0	Ben Scrivens is not the answer at goaltender. Hopefully, they will get one soon.
26		Ducks	0-0	How fast the mighty have fallen. It’s about time they spent their money wisely.
27		Islanders	0-0	They have a new stadium being built soon. That’s progress at least.
28		Canadiens	0-0	A decent team that had a rough season last year. P.K. Subban and Carey Price are worth building around.
29		Oilers	0-0	A lot of young talent needs to prove itself this year.
30		Blue Jackets	0-0	They really cancelled the all-star game because the folks in Columbus aren’t used to watching professional hockey.
