In all the years since Hull’s little incident in the Stanley Cup Finals against Buffalo where Hull got a goal even though he was cleary in the crease.

Apparently, refs and instant replay are a bit paranoid (or incompetent, either one) and causing trouble for the goaltenders because Tyler Bozak of the Toronto Maple Leafs gets his goal pulled back off the board for goaltender interference.

It’s a bogus call as Bozak didn’t appear to really be in violation, just the opposite of Hull’s allowed goal, and the goal is disallowed.

I’m not sure what the refs were doing or why the rules don’t apply to review this goal but it appears the refs made a rush judgement and it should have been corrected. Simple plays like this should not be happening in 2012. I mean, this isn’t a World Cup Soccer game here.

Even though this non-goal happened early in the game, the Leafs would go on to lose to the Pens 5-4.

January 23, 2011 – Dr. Deke

Philly’s Scott Hartnell, despite needing a haircut, did his best to impress his dad this weekend. And pop must be proud as the shaggy haired Hartnell pulled out his 6th career hat trick against the Boston Bruins.

In the stands you can see Hartnell’s dad wearing the biggest smile in the world as he watches on as his son lights the lamp. Not a bad day to check out your kid at his work.

The natural hat trick occurred in the second period and the fans littered the ice in the proper tradition which made the officials postpone the remaining 46 seconds of the second period to clean up the hats.

[via Yahoo! Sports] Hartnell got Philadelphia within 3-2 on a power-play goal a few minutes into the period when he blasted a one-timer while down on one knee.

Hartnell then scored a nifty goal to tie it at 3. He caught a pass from Giroux, dropped the puck, turned around and lifted a shot over defenseman Adam McQuaid that fluttered above Thomas’ stick.

Hartnell put the Flyers up 4-3 in the final minute of the period. He lost his stick during the shift, skated over to the bench to grab another one, returned to the circle and ripped another shot past Thomas.

Fans littered the ice with hats to celebrate Hartnell’s sixth career three-goal game and first since Dec. 20, 2008. With only 46.5 seconds left in the second, players went back to their lockers and added the extra time to the final period.

<object

Hall is trying to block the shot that led to another goal but comes up short. That’s why he’s a center, not a goalie I suppose.

After the goal you can see Hall say out loud ‘Why pull the goalie?”

Looks like soemone’s not happy with the coaches decision and that means the talking heads at CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada have something to talk about.

<object

After the Winnipeg Jets miss a shot on goal, the puck goes soaring toward the blue line where the Bruins Shawn Thornton picks it up for a breakaway.

Thornton is known more for his penalty minutes than his goal scoring so it might have been better off if the Jets defense had just let him go. Instead, Thornton gets bugged enough that he can’t get a shot off and the ref calls for a penalty shot.

Given the extra chance, Shawn Thornton scores with a sick move on a shorthanded penalty shot against Ondrej Pavelec, his first career penalty shot attempt.

<object
